Digital Disruption กำลังเริ่มส่งผลกระทบต่อธุรกิจในหลายๆอุตสาหกรรม และจะมีผลต่อธุรกิจในทุกภาคส่วนในอนาคตอันใกล้ การเปลี่ยนแปลงแบบ disruption เป็นการเปลี่ยนแปลงแบบพลิกโฉม หรือเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพตลาด หรือรูปแบบธุรกิจแบบเดิมๆ ที่จะโดนแย่งชิงตลาดไปจนหมดความสำคัญ โดยที่ไม่สามารถรับมือด้วยวิธีแบบเดิมๆได้ อาทิ อย่างกรณีของตลาดกล้องถ่ายรูปที่เราเห็นในอดีต เมื่อตลาดมีการเปลี่ยนแพลตฟอร์มจากกล้องฟิล์มเป็นกล้องดิจิตอล ผู้ผลิตฟิล์มไม่สามารถจะแข่งขันได้ ไม่ว่าจะมีการลดต้นทุน หรือจะลงทุนพัฒนานวัตกรรมบนแพลตฟอร์มเดิมๆไปเท่าไหร่ก็ตาม

ในปัจจุบัน ฟินเทคกำลังเข้ามาเขย่าโลกของการเงินการธนาคาร ด้วยการเข้ามาของผู้เล่นหน้าใหม่ๆอย่าง ผู้ค้าปลีก ค่ายมือถือ หรือยักษ์ใหญ่อีคอมเมิร์สที่ทำให้ผู้บริโภคสามารถ ชำระเงิน โอนเงิน โดยไม่ต้องผ่านบริการของธนาคาร เจมี ไดมอน ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหารของ เจพีมอร์แกน ธนาคารยักษ์ใหญ่อันดับต้นๆ ของโลก ได้กล่าวว่า คู่แข่งสำคัญของเจพีมอร์แกนที่สำคัญจากนี้ไปไม่ใช่ธนาคารใหญ่ๆ ในอเมริกาอีกต่อไปแล้ว แต่เป็นเหล่าบริษัทฟินเทค สตาร์ทอัพ ที่กำลังบ่มเพาะกันอยู่จำนวนมาก โดยเฉพาะในแถบซิลิคอน วัลเลย์ ในสหรัฐ

ขณะนี้ผู้นำในทุกภาคอุตสาหกรรมกำลังจะพบกับความท้าทายครั้งใหญ่ ที่เกี่ยวพันกับอนาคตขององค์กร ให้สามารถเพิ่มอัตราเร่งในกระบวนการทำงาน การพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑ์ และแข่งขันกับองค์กรขนาดเล็กที่มากับเทคโนโลยีใหม่ๆ ซึ่งอาจจะเข้ามาพลิกเกมส์ของการแข่งขันในตลาด และจะทำให้ผู้เล่นในตลาดเดิมๆสูญเสียพื้นที่ในตลาด หรือแม้กระทั่งล้มหายตายจากไป
